Deep Thoughts by Amy (J.Handy) Cannon...

...When you reflect back on your life, if you do, what do you see?  Do you see continuous drama and aggravation that was caused by you?  Did you learn and grow from the mistakes you made along the way?  Do you think you made any mistakes?  Or were the mistakes and problems always caused by others that surrounded you?  Did you try to be polite and helpful and were you sincere about it?  Was it for your gain only or for the other person?  Have you done what you want to do in life or are you working on it?  Do you live each day as if it were your last?  Do you try to be positive even in the darkest times?  Did you learn that it is okay if not every person in the world likes you?  Do you believe in karma?  Do you think the universe will only give back to you what you give out...good or bad?  Can you accept the differences of others?  What would you do today if?  Do you spend time with your children?  Do you pay attention to the picture your first grader drew in class that is really important to him or are you too busy to notice?  Do you believe the little things in life are the things that matter?  Have you ever had a heart to heart talk with your daughter about life and what they can possibly expect?  Did your Mom do that for you?  Did you find out that life is not always unicorns and rainbows?  Are you okay with that?  Do your kids know right from wrong?  Do they know what to do if someone hurts their feelings?  Do you discuss life issues with your children even if they are very minor in your eyes?  Do you tell them that you love them?  Do you smile at the old man walking his dog, down the street, in front of your house?  Do you know and respect that he knows much more about life than you do?  Do you wonder what he has encountered or been through in his life?  Do your children respect other adults?  Do you?  Do you laugh or just take things too seriously?  Do you wish you wouldn't worry so much?  Do you wonder how long you will be on this earth?  Do you hope while you are here that you can make a difference?  Do you just hope to get through this day?  Do you wonder why you have had to encounter difficulties in your life?  Do you believe that everything happens for a reason?  Do you blame others for what you haven't accomplished or do you stand up and go get what you want?  Do you try to be kind?
On year 39 there is always a lot to think about.  If you can look back on your life, reflect, learn from your mistakes, and grow in a better direction then you should feel good.  If you can stop blaming others and the past and understand that you are much better off where you are now in life, then that is good.  The "coulda, woulda, shouldas" need to disappear.  Really...what good are they anyway, but a waste of time.  You will still have sad moments and things you cannot control and they will haunt you on a weekly basis...but you have to be strong for yourself and those around you.  Are you the rock?  Are you leading by example for your children?  Something to think about.  You are going somewhere and you are working hard to get there.  Be proud of what you have accomplished thus far.  You may be happy fixing cars every day for the rest of your life or you may be building a huge empire...but who cares...as long as you are doing what you want to do it doesn't matter the level?  Does it make you happy?  Do you recognize those happy moments in between the chaos?  Maybe you like the chaos.  You can only do your best.  Are you?  You learn that you can't change other people and actually you don't want to.  They will probably never be "like" you, but maybe that is okay.  It is completely okay.  You will always cross people and wonder "why the heck do they act that way?"  That will never change.  All you can do is continue to better yourself, if that makes you happy, and always take the high road.   There is a simple rule that some people agree with and live by and others just don't understand...the rule is described in many different verbal formats, but this is it "Ask yourself...would I like it if someone did or said this to me? (of course before you do or say it) And if the answer is NO, then don't do or say it."  Have a nice day everyone.  Peace.
