Are some people just "recession mad"?! or Are some people really that dumb, inconsiderate, and disrespectful?!!!

So, I am sitting here trying to write my paper for my Master's program, and my mind keeps getting pulled back to other topics and issues.  Probably my ADD.  Here is what I was thinking... are some people just really that dumb, inconsiderate, and disrespectful?  I mean...are there more people like that on our earth than kind people?  I think some people are just like that all the time and then there are other people who have gotten meaner with time.  Maybe it is the recession affecting people...I am not sure.

Here are some examples...I am in the grocery store the other day, and I am checking out.  So, I am putting my items on the conveyor thingy and they are slowly moving down to the check out guy.  Well, this lady is standing right behind my cart...she is so close she is practically sitting in it.  I politely ask if I can push the cart back to get behind it and push it down the aisle.  She "huffs" me and literally backs up maybe one inch.  I barely get down the aisle and she is throwing her two items on the conveyor.  As I was paying she just scowled at me like I took her lane or something.  I wanted to say something, but out of respect to my elders I said nothing.  She was so rude and it was completely unnecessary.  If she was in such a hurry why didn't she just go through the self-check out lane.

And have you noticed that no one says please, thank you, sorry, or excuse me when they are out in public.  I rarely hear it anymore.  People cut in front of you with their car or cart and say nothing.  Sometimes I wonder if I am invisible or something.  More children are disrespectful to adults and their parents do nothing about it.  I saw a lady with her kids, again I was in the grocery store, and her little 4 year old girl was screaming and told her Mom to shut up and she hit her Mom.  Her Mom just said "stop it honey!" and they went along their way and the kid was still screaming!  What the heck!  If that was me, I would have left my cart and pulled my kid to the side and set him straight!

Some people are just mad at the world all the time!  How can you live like that??!!  I mean, I have my bad days, but seriously everyday!

The way I see it...we are all in this recession crap together whether we have a job or not.  We are all just trying to get by...right?  So why not just say okay I think I will be nice today or do one nice thing for someone else.  What do you have to lose???  Guess what?..it may actually make you feel better about yourself or your current situation!  I am no Saint, but I can say that if I get the opportunity to do something nice to help someone else each day... I do it.

everything you said is sad but true. my daughter is 14 and everytime we are at the grocery or video store I hear her say "excuse me" when she walks in front of other people. I am far from perfect but, I command and demand respect from my child. Never once did she throw a fit in public. When I told her no she knew better than to act out. The "laws" do make it harder than ever to punish our children but I dont think theres anything wrong with a butt whipping. I received my fair share of them as a child and i deserved it every time. As for the rude people...hmmm...sometimes when I'm out I make sure to smile at every person I make eye contact with. Most of em smile back. A few look at me like I have an alien growing out of my head. I may cuss like a sailor but I do respect my elders and I am teaching my daughter the same thing.
